Stopped here with my mom on our way to Canada. They have an excellent beer and cocktail selection. I had a steak salad, and my mom had an ahi tuna salad. We enjoyed our salads. Everything was fresh. Service was friendly, but slightly slow. I'd come here but not if you're in a rush.

The food wasn't too bad. It looks like their menu is improving. Good beer selection as well. I had the chicken fingers with waffle fries & left hungry. Only 4 small fingers come with the order. I guess I should've gotten a burger - they looked huge. Service was pretty quick even though the place was full of folks for the Kentucky Derby - no funny hats though.

Have been several times now, mostly at lunch time, and recently for date night with my wife. Every time I have been the service has been quick and friendly, and the food has been great. The menu isn't huge, but this seems to be part of their formula for success. Everything they put on the menu they do very well. Will keep going back again and again.

I ordered oatmeal stout ! We all out but we have wheat beers poor substitute so I declined. Tried the hard cider it was weak and mediocre. I ordered a burger with smoked meat and deep fried pickles, coleslaw, lettuce and tomato on a kaiser roll. A 3 rd rating would have been way too generous for this SLOP the onion rings were soggy and when touched oil ran down my fingers I sent them back they were replaced with fries which were the only decent thing on my plate during the whole meal. The bun was dry and fell apart in the second bite, and the burger was not browned, the fried pickles were scarce and soggy flavorless mush, the lettuce was black wilted and sludgy not edible, the Dunns smoked meat was disgusting it was burned and flavorless a far cry from the real Dunns smoked meat that that I prepare at home. The waitress was new but good it's a nice location , comfortable seating, slow service not the London style pub food they claim, I'm from London and this would never be served in any decent pub. There is a change Of management needed to One that tastes the food!8

We had a grilled and tomato soup as well as a veggie burger (in the Twiggster). Beer selection was good. Staff (esp the bartender and host) were really pleasant. Great choice on a hot day coming back from Montreal.

I thought it was pretty good. Sat outside on their nice patio area surrounded by plants and the occasional Harley Davidson roaring by. Nice selection of VT beers (first time trying 14th star and I am a fan). The chips and cheese dip appetizer probably upped my future heart attack by 6 months but was worth it. I had a burger made with the special house mixture: 1/2 Vermont beef and 1/2 bacon. Interesting, but it seemed very "hard" and not flavorful. Next time, I'll stick with the straight beef. Waitstaff was very attentive and very friendly. We went around 7:00 on a Sunday night so maybe they just had more time on their hands for us, as opposed to other reviewers.

I used to love it. Great food, good service. Went there on a busy night and the service was lousy, food was mediocre at best. Our food was cold and dry, after 4 tables that came in later than us were served. I should give them another chance, because we did have multiple awesome meals there. But I just can't stop thinking about the last time and I don't want to spend $40-50 on a $15 dollar experience.

Not so impressed with the food or the service. Seems to me they just changed the menu and decor that was ciao Bella which was really bad.

Let me start out by saying I have never left a review for any restraunt, but felt compelled after my experience tonight and signed up for yelp to share my negative experience. I live within walking distance of this place and have been there about 5-10 times. The food is pretty good, but the service is piss poor. There has been an issue everytime but they always give me free stuff for the incompetence so it works out. Today I called in an order for pick up and the girl says 25 minutes (pretty long time for a burger), I show up 25 minutes later and she never put it in. So she says 10 minutes and it will be out. After another 30 minutes (55 minutes total for a burger!) of waiting I get my food and guess what they mess up the order! Unbelievable and no discounts or free stuff. Very unorganized and poorly managed.

I enjoyed our visit and the atmosphere . Food was tasty and the waitstaff was friendly and efficient.I'd like to go back on a night when they have music and try some other foods and beer.

We drove to St. Albans tonight for dinner at Twiggs. This was my first visit, but it will certainly not be my last. The food and atmosphere were terrific. I couldn't ask for a single improvement. We were also really surprised at the more-than-reasonable prices! As good as all that was, the real standout was the exemplary service from Erica. She was absolutely the best server I've had in years. (And I am not easy to please. ) When you go, be sure to save room for dessert. They do this wondrous thing called a Twiggy. You want it. Trust me.

I have been here twice so far, and here is how I feel about Twiggs. My first impression was good. There is a nice atmosphere here, with bits of artistic detail here and there. The general mood is nice, if you go on a slower night. This is where things get interested. If you go on a busy night, everything changes. It goes from a nice mellow atmosphere to a hectic and at times obnoxiously loud atmosphere. The food is okay and the service is decent, but it's better if you go on a slower night. Also, on busier nights, they close the kitchen early because of all of the orders, so don't expect to order anything if you plan on getting here later. I was impressed so see a place like this in St. Albans though. It shows me that maybe this town is ready to become a part of the foodie culture in Vermont.

Good place to go for Beer and snacks. The Chili is good! Burgers and fries not so good. A $14 burger and spending another $4 for fries should be much better than this! If I want a good burger and fries, I'll head back to Five Guys!

Twiggs is great for going out with friends for a few drinks, but that's about it. Every single time I have gone (at least 5 times), there is always something wrong- particularly with the food. I've ordered the burger there twice medium rare and they came to my table medium well/well done each time. The appetizers however, have always been wonderful.

I have been here idk... 10 times? I'm picky, I rarely frequent the same places, and will write off a place in an instant, but I love this place, and I love that it is close to home. First off, and maybe most importantly, the waitstaff, I have never had a problem with. The girls are friendly, sweet, helpful, and quick.. sorry shouldn't leave out the guys.. even when they aren't your waiter they walk by, acknowledge you, and it is as if they are all actually working as a team here. Mixed drinks are strong, lots of beers on tap. Bar side is fun, they have live music often (bar side and table side), and outdoor seating in the summer. Tonight they had a man playing the piano wonderfully. The art work is be-a-utiful! The artist, Jon Young, can be found next door at Local Fare, and one day he WILL paint me a custom piece. Love the ambiance at Twiggs, the colors alone set this place apart. I tend to get the cheese fries as a first bite, the 14th star cheese sauce is unlike the fake stuff you will find everywhere else! These are your best bet. My favorite meal is the ultimate cheesy piggy, grilled cheese with apple and pulled pork served on a wooden board, yes please!! & I choose to add on the sweet potato waffle fries, served in spiral wire basket, which comes with honey mustard. If you get the side Mac and cheese, it is huge, and so delish. If you get a burger, have a big mouth. My boyfriend ordered citrus chicken, wow, they need to bottle and sell the sauce that comes with the chicken, I was dipping my fries in his plate, and I quote from him, "this is what made Peter Pan fly".. So yeah! If you have *any* issues with any part of your meal, they take it serious, and the managers will handle it in a way that is more appropriate than rich franchises... they've totally impressed me. Not only do they support local music artists, local breweries, have a great atmosphere, staff/management, and food, they also have rewards for members (sign up info right at table), and they host comedy shows (I've been to 4) supporting school sports, businesses, disabilities, you name it. They also just opened an indoor, all year farmer's market, Local Fare, as mentioned above, which can be accessed through the restaurant or it's own door on Main Street. Local that makes you happy to stay local. And they do all this at such reasonable prices. Try this place out, then try it again!

Went on a Friday night. Dining room was less than half full. Sat on the back patio for the musical entertainment. Our server was great, very quick to get us our drinks. Their appetizers were, eh. My wife and I both ordered a burger. Cooked medium rare. Took 45 minutes to get our food. WAY over cooked. Fries were cold, and burnt. I don't frequent St. Albans that often, but I'll be sure to avoid Twiggs next time I'm in the area, and hungry.

First time trying Twiggs - Burgers were AMAZING (a nice 50/50 blend with smoked bacon in the mix). However, the sides we tried were pretty skimpy - the sweet potato fries were good, but at $5, we thought the portion was pretty small. The salad was pretty sad-looking (wilty with stale croutons). Our chicken wings, while covered in tasty sauce, were raw when we bit into them. If I had been there, I would have sent them back to the kitchen, but since we got takeout, I contacted them via their website. No response. Pretty disappointed since our bill was more than $50 and we couldn't even eat part of our meal due to a health hazard.

Always good service and tasty food. Have the Twiggie for dessert, you'll be glad you did!

Great food with reasonable service but they play loud juvenile music that no one the age of 14 would enjoy. Had difficulty talking over music

Gastropubs and brewpubs are definitely my thing and I had high hopes for Twiggs. The owners are clearly onto something, but there are things I feel could be changed too. The burgers are pretty tasty. Wish they came with the fries rather than chips though. $2 extra to get fries with a $12 burger was unexpected. The fries are tasty, but other gastropubs we've been to give the choice of fries or chips and only onion rings cost extra. Can't say enough about 14th Star Brewing and was slightly disappointed that there was no Valor on tap, but a trip to 14th Star after dinner proved that the brewery was also out of Valor. Disappointment came when one in our party ordered a Switchback and the beer received tasted of berries. It tasted like someone filled the glass half way with Blackberry Wheat and then switched it over. Not a tasty beer when you're expecting Switchback. Finally, the bigger disappointment is the waffle fries that come with the fish and chips and chicken. These are clearly frozen, prepackaged and not that great. I really wish they'd do away with them and just stick to their handcut fries. Music inside was an older man playing piano, it wans't bad. Walking outside though, the music was blasting and I can see now why I've heard that eating outside isn't appealing.

Music was good. Treated like a gangster when I came in. Poor bourbon selection...just one. Got the table in the back...no problem. Butttttt we were forgotten about. If your gonna use terms like 'gastro' you need to be above the norm. You're in St.A. VT...having Labatt Bleu on tap is not a bad thing. Waitstaff is WAY too slow. Owners...quicker they are, more you sell, more they get tips. This isn't rocket science. The hand formed burger....didn't seem it...sort of packed too tight and dry. Seemed mechanical. ..just my opinion....but the burger being well smaller than the bun...come on...my homemade burgers are always a bit bigger than the bun. After tonight, my first time there. ..I'm not rushing back. Wonder why at Hooters they ask you if it's your first time there? Because they kiss your butt. They make u want to come back. GASTRO PUB...give me a break...sloppy just like the place that was there before. Step it up.

Twiggs has really great food. I love the atmosphere, and it's a really nice restaurant. Service can be a little slow at times, but only when it's busy. The beer battered chicken fingers are REALLY good!

I've eaten here three times. The first time the food was excellent, but the waitress completely ignored me and focused all of her attention on my boyfriend (clearly trying to get a larger tip). It was extremely rude and left a bad taste in my mouth about the whole experience. We've returned twice since then and the service was awesome both times. The food is always amazing. I highly recommend any variation of the mac n cheese, or the bacon and cheese fries. Delicious!

Ambience was very nice. Food was good....but as previously mentioned in other reviews the burger was very difficult to eat. My husband opted for the chicken fingers--I feel that may've been the easier choice. I did have my first taste of 14 Star beer--super yummy. Service was a little slow (I saw the table next to me wait for 30 minutes for dessert), but our server was very friendly. I could've done without the live music--it made it hard to talk. I'd eat there again, but I'd get the chicken fingers next time.

Third time eating at Twiggs. Good beer selection with the highlight being St Albans own 14th Star on tap. 14th star makes several appearances on the menu and is most notably in the 14th Star Cheese fries. The portions are awesome and the presentation makes you wish you ordered everything going to the tables around you. The burgers are outstanding and are a 50/50 blend of beef and bacon. I have found paradise and it is in the form of a Twiggs signature burger. I have also had the 14th Star Chicken Tenders and they were not disappointing. The combination of a brewery that absolutely nails their product and a restaurant that incorporates a great beer into its menu is a great combo. The high booths are a nice touch and give some added privacy to the feel of the place. The owner is definitely in touch with keeping a local feel and frequently brings in area artists to provide an added ambiance. I will make many return trips to this place!!

Tried to eat here but couldn't get a menu after 10 minutes. I don't know what to say, they obviously have staffing issues.

Nice funky, casual atmosphere. Good pub menu and good selection of beers and liquor at their 2 bars. They have a spacious private party room for rent in the rear that is great for office parties, etc.

Only been here twice so far for takeout so this review may need to be amended in the future. The 2 star rating is because the first visit would have been 4 stars, unfortunately the second time would only be a 1 star. First time there the food was ready right away, got it home and still hot and not soggy at all, everything was very good. Also the ambiance seems very nice from what I saw. Second time had to wait over 25 minutes past when the order was supposed to be ready. Not even because they were busy at the time but it seemed someone in the kitchen forgot to put the order down. After they realized I had been waiting around for a while someone then put the order in. When it finally came up it appeared one part of the order was wrong and needed to be made again, but that meant the rest of the order was just sitting around getting soggy. The person who seemed to be the manager there was trying to deal with people in the kitchen to get the order together and realized how long I had been waiting but when the food was finally done it was just brought out by someone in the kitchen, no real apology or anything. When got the food home it was very soggy, you could definitely tell that some of it had been sitting around. Also with this order tried the waffle fries which we did not like at all, the regular fries which had got before were much better. Very frustrated with the second time there however since had a good experience our first time we will probably try it again and see if it will make it's way into the regular rotation of St Albans restaurants. *Update 01/26/14: Been back a couple times since last review and both times had very good experience. Food has been good and timely, very good ambiance at this place. Also they have very good take out boxes here, keeps food warm but doesn't get it soggy from the steam.
